Let me tell you why I am fighting for change

There’s no question that our state and our communities face many challenges – and what’s worse is that it seems like no matter how much money we hand to politicians to fix these issues, the problems only seem to persist, or even get worse. We just keep doing the same thing over and over again and we’re expecting different results.

You don’t have to be an Einstein to see the insanity in that. I’ve always been fascinated by Albert Einstein – and lately one of his most famous quotes resonates with me more than ever: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

I think many of us feel like this accurately sums up our politics these days – and that’s why I am dedicated to running a campaign based on fundamental change in how we work to solve homelessness, make our state safer, create affordable housing without destroying neighborhoods, and make sure Sacramento is listening to us.

I was born in Hong Kong to parents from Shanghai. When I was four, my family moved to Sudan, where my father took a factory management job. But after my father died from a stroke, my mother had to find a way to shake things up – so she opened the first Chinese restaurant in Sudan. And despite facing the dual challenges of being a woman in a male-dominated society, and learning how to be a small business owner, she was able to make it work.

I’m running for State Assembly in that same spirt – to shake things up. We can’t keep sending the same people to Sacramento over and over again and expect different results. We need real change. And that’s what I plan to do – go to Sacramento to deliver – I’m not heading to Sacramento to “go along to get along.” I’m going to get things done – on the issues that matter most, like:

    • Ending the insanity of street homelessness
    • Stopping politicians who are taking away local democracy by putting developers in charge of land use
    • Keeping our communities safe
    • Getting smarter about government spending
    • and so much more.

The choice is yours.

Changing the status quo that isn’t working for so many of our communities starts with changing the culture of just sending the same people to Sacramento over and over again.  I’m standing up for common sense. But it is so clear – we can’t protect our communities if we let Sacramento continue to pass bad laws and make bad spending decisions.

If you agree we need change – and we need it now – I hope you will join us as we fight to shake up Sacramento.

Please consider all the candidate’s voting records, previous statements, including social media postings, and endorsements; not just their campaign jargon. Look deep and decide. Thank you.
